Your students are all over the map.
In the same room you have children who are reading above grade level and students who get stuck sounding out words.
You’re passionate about growing engaged, proficient readers, but every year you have a few students who Just. Don't. Get it.
You're starting to ask yourself, “Am I doing this right?”
You've heard about the science of reading, but you wonder if it's all just another fad. Can you trust it?
And if you can trust it, how does it apply to teaching reading in K-2?
You don't want to be dragged into the reading wars. You just want to know the what, why, and how of best practices in teaching reading.
What if you could get a solid understanding of the research without spending hours reading dry professional journals?
What if you knew how to pinpoint each student's instructional needs and make a doable plan for moving forward?
What if you could find a solid system for teaching phonemic awareness, phonics, and vocabulary?
What if you could be confident that your students had exactly what they need to grow in fluency and achieve the ultimate goal - strong reading comprehension?
What if you had the resources you need to plan engaging whole-class lessons and efficient, targeted small group instruction?
You can learn the science of reading without getting another degree.
You can use quick and simple assessments to gauge your students' needs.
You don't need to throw out everything you've ever known or done. (Whew!)
You just need a solid understanding of current research along with practical tools and a simple system to bring it to life in your classroom.
